Noise pollution - the silent threat to construction workers

Studies consistently show that construction workers have significantly higher rates of hearing loss compared to the general population and we know that this can lead to anxiety, depression and social isolation. Noise pollution is a significant issue in the developed world supported by recent research which shows that more than 20% of Europe's population is exposed to long-term noise levels exceeding 55 decibels, which is considered harmful to health. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that environmental noise contributes to 12,000 premature deaths and 48,000 new cases of ischemic heart disease annually in every part of the Continent.
